The venting process is generally done by the device physicist, following the steps:
Using the manual controllers in the middle level of the S3 vault (see figure above), ensure that the ion gauge I203IG is turned off.
Open S800vac PanelMate.
Go to page 2 (“upper beamline dipoles vacuum system, section 14”)
Ensure that gate valves I190GV (between object section and upper-dipole section) and I212GV (between upper-dipole section and intermediate image area) are closed.
Window “VENT STATUS” should be green and display “GOOD VACUUM”
Walk to the west side of the middle level of the S3 vault, near the first two dipoles of the analysis line and verify that the manual vent valve is closed.
In PanelMate S800vac (page 2), click on “VENT STATUS” and select “BEGIN VENTING PROCEDURE”. The I203GV turbo gate valve will be automatically closed, and the automatic vent valve I203VV open. However, the venting process won't be complete until you open the manual valve.
Walk (again) to the middle level of the S3 vault, near the first two dipoles of the analysis line. Locate the I204PG Pirani gauge and ensure that it reads few miliTorr.
Slowly open the manual valve and verify that the pressure read in I204PG raises slowly.
After the section is vented (atmospheric pressure) close the manual gate valve and stop the “VENTING PROCEDURE”
