===Update from the president - Dan Coupland=== Followup on information from Michael Thoennessen, [[meetings:sep12_2011|last week]]. Michael sent an email to all grads, saying: In addition to the seminar by Arti Garg from OMB (Office of Management and Budget) on September 21 in BPS 1425, she would also like to meet with the graduate students and postdocs following the seminar, so I encourage all students to attend but please do NOT skip other classes for this. I asked for help during the DNP meeting. There are several tasks where we could use help. The biggest part is that we would like to assign one graduate student to each session to make sure everything runs smoothly. In addition to the Wednesday workshop and the plenary session there are 7 parallel sessions during 8 different time blocks. I would suggest that one student would volunteer for a given session block (for example Minisympoisum Transfer 1,2 and 3) in a session that you would attend anyway. Please take a look at the schedule, it is online at http://meeting.aps.org/Meeting/DNP11/Content/2150 Note that the Arti Garg seminar is this Wednesday at 11:00 am. Also, PA department students do not have to attend the ethics seminars asked about last week. The requirements are posted [[http://www.pa.msu.edu/grad/rcr/rcr.pdf|here.]] ===Seminars - Adam Fritsch=== Our votes last week showed the most interest in meeting with speakers John Wilkerson, Wick Haxton, and Daryl Hartley.
