Module Abundances

One goal of nuclear astrophysics is to understand the origin of the elements that make up our world. The relative abundance of each element and isotope is of greatest importance as they hold the clues to which astrophysical processes have created which element. The goal of this module is to learn how the abundances of the elements are determined, what uncertainties are, what exactly we mean with the “solar abundances” and how the solar abundances differ from abundances elsewhere in the universe.

The lectures introduce the topic and deal with the basics. The Group Exercise covers the status of current research in determining the composition of the solar system.
