Electrostatic Calculations

We performed electrostatic calculation with Elmer FEM code to check the uniformity of the drift field in the field cage and look for potential sparking points.

Dimensions of the chamber
  • 32 cm long
  • 17cm diameter
Dimensions of the field cage
  • 14 cm diameter
  • 1.5 cm separation from the gas chamber
  • 3 cm separation between cathote and the chamber
Characteristics of the cage
  • Flexible Kapton field cage with copper electrodes printed on one side
  • 83 equipotential strips (3 mm wide 0.5 mm gap)
  • Drift field 200 V/cm
  • Gating grid placed 2 cm above the MICROMEGAS detector
