Improvement List for Next Time

  1. MCP
    1. mount design: need to standardize the design for both MCP mounts. Design an Al housing around the MCP detectors.
    2. Screws should be the right size to install with non-magnetic allen wrenches. Also, screws should be of consistent size
    3. Switch amplifiers (green)
    4. Design better ground: either include in PC board or provide an additional ground plane.
    5. update MCP database
  2. Target mechanisms
    1. Need target ladder in G10 frame shape with non-magnetic heli-coils
    2. Need better alignment to the target drive (dowel pin?)
    3. use screws that fit to non-magnetic allen wrenches
    4. redesign drive, deal with wearing out of brass gear, etc.
    5. MCP0 drive needs to take into account the 3mm offset
  3. HiRA
    1. Need a jig to do quick test of Si detectors
    2. Redesign the CsI gold cables
    3. Redesign the cable stress release mounts, stand-off on the inspect channel splitter/attenuators
    4. Redesign CsI pulser box to allow access to switch and cabling
    5. Does the CsI board to what we need?
    6. order new chipboards plus spares
    7. consider have DE chipboards inside chamber (need power cables)
    8. Need more space from detectors to motherboards?
    9. Need to build faraday cage in each tower so that cable connections aer not disturbed
    10. Fix individual telescopes broken parts, dowel pins, and get spare parts
    11. Fix shorting power cables
  4. Electronics
    1. Need more reshapers and 16 channel NIM discriminators
    2. Check MCP QDC channels
    3. Need new or fixed scalers
  5. Proceedures
    1. Partial bias tests of MCPs and Sis at air before pumping
    2. document setup and test proceedures
    3. run TDC as common start
  6. Software
    1. Modify Spectcl so that it is remotely usable for trivial things
